FAQsQ: When is the parade?
A: The parade has traditionally been in the beginning of December. Q: Who can be in the parade? A: Over the years, we have welcomed entrants representing a number of businesses, non-profit organizations, and community groups. Typically, this includes floats created by decorating a trailer pulled by a truck, group performances like marching bands and dance troupes, and some animal groups (horseback riders, llamas - you name it!). Floats and performances must align with the theme of the parade. Q: What is required of entrants? A: Parade entrants will need submit an application form. Each entrant should have a primary contact person who will need to attend an informational meeting and be responsible for submitting all paperwork and communicating important details to the rest of their group. Basic safety and other information will be covered in the informational meeting. Organizations MUST have a Certificate of Liability Insurance for your group/organization, which can be requested from your insurance provider (do so as soon as possible), and you will need to collect signatures on a waiver from participants or guardians of those under 18. Form provided at meeting. You must have the Certificate of Liability Insurance (not auto insurance) to be involved in the parade. Q: Can we throw candy during the parade? A: Your group is welcome to pass out candy, books, or other treats, but they can not be thrown into the crowd. This has created safety concerns with children running into the path of the parade in the past. If you would like to pass out items, you just need to plan to have part of your group on foot to walk along the sidewalk to get items safely within reach of children watching the parade. Q: What's the #1 Rule of Crawfordsville Christmas Parade? A: There is only one Santa & Mrs. Claus! We have the guests of honor on contract. We encourage you to fully embrace the theme by dressing up as all the other characters that make this a fun, magical experience for little spectators! |
